Introducing PiYo by Beachbody

PiYo7Have you heard the buzz yet?  If not, I’m sure you will be soon.  PiYo will be released sometime in latter part of June.  I’ve heard it will be available on June 23, 2014.  So stay tuned!  Beachbody’s newest program will be taught by celebrity trainer Chalene Johnson (TurboJam, ChaLEAN Extreme, and TurboFire).  If you are at all familiar with any of Chalene’s programs then you already know that this program is going to deliver.  I really can’t wait for this program to be released.  Beachbody hasn’t released a great deal of information…yet, but I will let you know what I do know!  Let’s start with the basics.

What is PiYo?


Well, it sounds like PiYo has been around for a few years.  Here is the description of PiYo that Beachbody has provided to the Team Beachbody Coaches:

Carve an intensely defined physique without jumps, without weights, and without joint strain.  Using body weight, PiYo uses low-impact, high-intensity movements inspired by Pilates and yoga.  The result?  Long, lean muscles, a high, firm booty, and tight, flat, sexy abs.  PiYo will work every single muscle to stabilize, stretch, and strengthen every inch of a body.  And since Chalene Johnson cranked up the speed and the fun, crazy calories will be burned too!

Beachbody is touting this as a great workout program for individuals that are new to working out since every move will be modified for beginners.

So, essentially, PiYo is a fusion of Pilates and yoga.  One blog post that I came across described PiYo as a “hyper version of yoga”.  I wish there was a lot more that I could tell you about this soon-to-be released program, PiYo.  If you’d like to see a brief promotional video, be notified when the program is available, and be entered into a contest to win a free PiYo program then click on the image below!
