Tony Horton P90 Blog Post1Beachbody recently released its newest in-home DVD fitness program called P90 created by celebrity fitness trainer, Tony Horton.  The P90 program is essentially an all-new version of a program that was discontinued, known as Power 90.  Of course Tony Horton is probably most well-known for his more extreme home fitness programs, P90X, P90X2, and P90X3.  Truthfully, extreme programs like P90X aren’t for everyone.  And while many overweight, even obese,  people have had amazing success with P90X, it might not have been the best option for them, especially considering the impact of the extra weight on their joints.  For every overweight person who had success with P90X, I wonder how many started and gave up in frustration because the program was just too much for them.  Tony Horton has managed to create in the P90 program, workouts that are shorter and that are simple, doable, and less extreme than his others.

Who is the P90 Workout For?

Well, honestly, P90 is for EVERYbody.  P90 is perfect for a person who is brand new to working out, a fitness newbie.  It would also be an ideal program for people who used to be in shape and want to get back in shape (people who haven’t worked out in a decade or two), anyone with past injuries since P90 is lower-impact and less intense than P90X, X2, and X3, and every move can be modified.  P90 is also perfect for people who would like to do a Tony Horton program, but do not want to go extreme.  P90 is a good choice for people who have been doing an extreme program and would like to maintain their results while doing something less extreme.  And also obviously for people who love the Power 90 workout since P90 offers all-new, cutting-edge routines.

Why is P90 Effective?

What makes the P90 program so effective is a technique called Sectional Progression.  Tony eases you into a variety of cardio, strength, and stability moves that work the back, shoulders, chest, biceps, triceps, and legs–and every move is designed to strengthen the abs.  These routines don’t get harder until you’re ready for the next challenge.  Then, just when you’ve mastered those moves, he ups the ante a little more.

The 10 new P90 routines are arranged in 3 progressive phases.  Each new phase of P90 is designed to gradually ease your body past its old limits.  So after 30 days of P90, you’re leaner and more solid; after 60 days, you’re seeing muscles you’ve never noticed before; and by Day 90 you can finally have that lean, strong body you could only once dream about.

Since this program is so new, just having been released on September 23, 2014, there aren’t any before/after photos available from people who have completed the 90 day program, other than the test group participants.
